Due to its good readability at wide viewing angles, this technology is mainly used in local agglomerations as a device for operational information (ZPI), e.g. for parking systems. The type of display and its number are chosen according to the requirement for readability and the type of information, the type of display and the number of its segments are selected. For basic numeric systems, 38 segments are chosen, the shape of the font is given by the segments of the type of the display glass.
A translucent yellow foil is placed under the display as a contrasting surface, which increases the visibility of the symbol. To increase the brightness of the display fluorescent tubes are used with brightness control for individual lighting conditions of the environment which is provided by the ZPI control unit.
